HE WHO HAS PROMISED IS FAITHFUL

Today again, I have to remind myself of this important truth again!
The Lord gives all of us promises of blessing, health, strength, breakthrough, His power, healing, restoration, fulfilment of our destiny for our children, loved ones and much more. His Word says in Psalm 139 that all the days of our lives were written in His book before we were born. He promises us that His plans for us are for GOOD and that He has a purpose and a plan for our lives (Jer 29:11).
He is our Father in heaven and like any father He wants the best for His children, but many times we have to stand on God’s promises for a long time before we see them manifesting in our lives.
“And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.” Hebrews 11:11 Sarah waited 25 years for the promise of a son to come into fulfilment.
The Israelites had to stay in the desert for 40 years before God let them go into the promised land. He tested their hearts and taught them to trust in Him as their provider and protector. He taught them to listen and obey His voice. Often in my experience God uses times of waiting in the desert to build our character and grow intimacy with Him.
We as family, have also waited on the Lord for many years for certain promises that He has given us. It is not easy to wait and sometimes you feel discouraged and those are the times when I remind myself that He who has promised is FAITHFUL to do what He has promised.
Let us seize and hold tightly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word];” HEBREWS 10:23
It encourages me and stirs up my faith when I see how God answers prayer in other people’s lives, that I know have also trusted Him for a long time! I make an effort to hear and listen to people’s testimonies of faith, because it strengthens my own faith.
Jesus gives the example of the poor widow that went to the judge daily to ask for justice until he finally adhered to her requests. We must continue believing, trusting God and asking him to bring into fulfillment every word and promise that he has given us. “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? Luke 18:7
There are many other examples in scripture of people who had to wait for God’s promises, like the prophet Habakkuk who waited on God for revelation and direction. “For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time It hurries toward the goal [of fulfilment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay.” HABAKKUK 2:3
Mary accepted the words of the angel to her, although she didn’t know at the time how this would be possible and God honoured her for that. “And blessed [spiritually fortunate and favored by God] is she who believed and confidently trusted that there would be a fulfilment of the things that were spoken to her [by the angel sent] from the Lord.” LUKE 1:45
Remember! God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His words and promises never change. God is not a man that He will lie. He is a Good Good Father!
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
